What is Customer Service?
6/23/2022 (Permalink)
We know how to make people smile.
When you hear "customer service", what do you think of? Maybe a favorable experience you had at a fast food restaurant, or maybe even a salesperson that treated you extra well and went above and beyond expectations for you. I personally am reminded of the company I work for. While that sounds loaded and insincere, I could not mean it more.
SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights / Rowland Heights is more than your everyday restoration company. It's not all about cutting drywall, leaving some fans behind, checking humidity, and wrapping up jobs as quickly as possible. We do all of those things (sans the last one, jobs take however long they take), but we do so much more.
When someone loses their home or business to a fire, they have a long, hard road ahead of them. We have seen hundreds of them. Insurance, hotel stays, trying to salvage what belongings didn't get scorched, etc. These things take a toll on people and sometimes, a friendly face and a conversation can make all of the difference.
Our technicians are professionals, sure. They are also people that know how to treat people right, and that is customer service in my book.
Going the Distance is What We're All About

"Are you sure this is a good shortcut?"
Los Angeles county is massive. Speaking in terms of size, there are larger spaces. Speaking in terms of navigating rush hour traffic going both ways, it may as well be its own sovereign nation. The freeways are all like the line at In-n-Out at dinner, all of the time. Unless you do all of your traveling at midnight, you will not be going anywhere quickly. Even after midnight, sometimes!
SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights / Rowland Heights will go just about wherever we are called to, with some restrictions applied. For instance, if you live in San Francisco, there are most certainly closer franchises to you. We'd love to meet you, but not on those terms.
We travel all over LA county, Riverside and San Bernardino counties, respectively, and even down into Orange County. I have been to downtown Los Angeles and Newport Beach on the same day for work. I needed a nap after that particular route. The fact of the matter is that not only are we open 24/7 waiting for your call; we are also willing to travel to get to you.
Near or far, if you've experienced a disaster, give us a call today.
There's no "I" in SERVPRO

Together, everyone achieves more.
You may have heard the old slogan "Teamwork makes the dream work". This is a very true sentiment to many organizations, not the least of which being SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights / Rowland Heights.
On any given Saturday morning, you may see one of our trucks rolling along on the freeway or maybe even in your neighborhood. This is because our technicians don't take days off as normal employees do. They share an on-call schedule that literally covers all 365 days of the year, and 24 hours of every one of those days. We are never more than two hours out from responding to your home or business in the event of a flood, fire, or any other type of issue. When we say "24-7-365", we mean it.
Of course, this would be impossible if not for the individuals that make up our team. Whether it's Ryan, Brian, or any of our other awesome expert technicians and leaders, you can rest assured that you will both hear from and meet one of our staff within that two hour window.
Does teamwork make the dream work? It does for SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights / Rowland Heights, that's for sure.
A difficult discussion
6/2/2022 (Permalink)
We always maintain professionalism and respect.
You sometimes get difficult jobs in this line of work. Whether it is arriving on-scene to a house fire and meeting the family who potentially just lost many of their most prized possessions (the house not withstanding), the office building that experienced a pipe burst and lost all of their computers, a house where a hoarder lives, or any other type of difficult situation, some jobs just aren't easy to deal with.
The worst of these jobs by far are crime scene cleanup or any other type of bio job where someone lost their life. I will spare you the details, but certain things can not be unseen and remain with you for a long time after the fact.
I personally have only been out to a handful of these types of jobs, so I feel a bit unqualified to speak on the topic at all. That being said, our technicians have been on quite a few. There are many things that a regular person would shy away from, whereas SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights / Rowland Heights technicians handle themselves professionally and with the utmost courtesy. In the event of a death, people are shaken up for a multitude of reasons. Aside from the sometimes grisly nature of the cleanup itself, our team conducts themselves in such a way that eases the shock of the circumstances for those involved.
Some things are not pretty. Luckily, SERVPRO is here to help when the going gets rough and work needs to be done.
Who are you and what are you doing here?
6/1/2022 (Permalink)
Hurricanes? Yeah, we do those.
In a competitive field that deals with something so personal as your home or business, why would you choose SERVPRO of Rowland Heights / Hacienda Heights over one of our competitors? We can sum the answer to that up in one word: Experience.
With more than 50 years of experience and an illustrious track record under our belt, SERVPRO is the brand you know and can trust. Who was called in when Hurricane Katrina hit the southern coast of the United States in 2005? SERVPRO franchises from across the nation trucked in and worked together (more than 5,000 hands on deck!) to help home and business owners alike try to reclaim a sense of normalcy in the face of a monsterous natural disaster. This is just one example of many. We also arrived en masse for the Texas Freeze Event in 2021. We removed rubble in the days and weeks following 9/11. Anywhere disaster strikes, SERVPRO is sure to follow.
The next time you experience a flood, fire, or mold infestation in your home, there is only one name you should trust. That name is SERVPRO.
Summer colors?
5/25/2022 (Permalink)
Orange and green may not be making an appearance at any fashion shows this year (or maybe they will, fashion is weird like that) but if you experience a fire or water loss, that particular combination of colors is a sight for sore eyes.
SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights / Rowland Heights is more than just a restoration company. When your home or business undergoes an event like a flood or fire, we will become your consultants, your experts, your friends, and with any luck, your piece of mind. With over 50 years in the restoration industry, SERVPRO is the brand you can continue to trust. We have been here for a very long time and we aren't going anywhere.
While our colors are a bit questionable to some, our commitment to our customers is second to none. Whether it's a fire loss, water loss, mold job, vandalism, or a biohazard cleanup, only trust your home or business to the pros. We will make it "Like it never even happened."
Eliminating Pet Odor
6/11/2021 (Permalink)
We love our pets... but sometimes the odor left behind isn't so pleasant.
We all love our pets, but that doesn’t mean you have to stand the way they make your house smell. Pet odor is something you can manage with a few simple actions and changes. They key is focusing on the source before addressing any lingering odors.
These are the cleaning activities you should do:
1. Vacuum regularly the entire house
2. Use an enzyme cleaner
3. Clean the carpets
4. Clean the Furniture
5. Give your pet a bath
6. Wash your Pet’s bed
7. Wash your bed sheets and covers
8. Clean your pet’s toys and accessories.
9. Replace the Litter
10. Clean their cage
As experts in deodorization, SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights is trained to identify and eliminate offensive odors.
We have the training and equipment to identify and eliminate these offensive odors. By identifying the cause of the odor, and determining the conditions where it contacts surfaces, the odor can often be removed over time without a trace.
Ways SERVPRO Helps with Claims
6/10/2021 (Permalink)
"Here to Help!"
Experiencing a disaster, business causes feelings of frustration and stress. Frustration is a common reaction because disasters hinders your normal workday. Stress is also a typical response to emergency situations because there is increased concern for the well-being of employees, as well as the need to work with insurance companies to handle claim services. Fortunately, there are four ways that an emergency response team assists business owners with claims to reduce these stresses.
1. Emergency Disaster Response
Fire, flooding and storms wreak havoc, and the longer the situation is left unattended, the more damage is done. SERVPRO offers a team of professionals with the training and skills to quickly attend to any situation. Our technicians are available 24/7 to clean up after fire, water, mold and more. A fast response to any disaster reduces damage by enabling businesses to restore items rather than replace them.
2. Pretesting
Another way that emergency specialists assist with claim services is by performing pretesting. Trained technicians inspect items before throwing them out, evaluating furniture and belongings to see if they can be restored.
3. Electronic Claims
Business owners and insurance adjusters are busy people, and disasters only add to their amount of work. Fortunately, SERVPRO has a claims information center that enables all parties to see claims electronically. Electronic job files contain important information such as loss info and photos, estimates, pending jobs and completed jobs.
4. Best Practices
Finally, insurance companies want to ensure that a restoration job is handled correctly. SERVPRO outperforms the competition by ensuring that all franchises meet the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration’s certification requirements. Insurance companies and business owners can rest assured that their cleanup and restoration project is done correctly.
Take advantage of the claim services offered by emergency response specialists. The amount of frustration and stress you experience can be decreased by utilizing their expertise.

Why do we set up containments?
6/9/2021 (Permalink)
Containments are used to keep undamaged areas clean.
Why placing a Containment is important and if it's really necessary.
Well the answer is Yes!
Containment's are very important and can play a huge role in Fire, Water and Mold Damage Restoration Losses.
A Containment is placed to control the environment, minimize the work space and/or to keep something that can potentially be harmful under control and to avoid cross contamination. In most cases Containment's are placed to block the affected areas from the unaffected areas which stops the spread of any further contamination.
Containment's are placed by using thick plastic sheeting with the assistance of tension/support poles or wooden frames and strong tape. The Containment's are usually placed around doors, openings, stairwells or even to divide rooms.
It is recommended that no one enters through the Containment's once set up and in place.
Customers can request to leave the containment up, until the reconstruction is done.

SERVPRO here to help
We have a motto around SERVPRO, it’s one that the entire company across the nation lives by, "Like it never even happened." What does that mean? Does it mean we can erase the memory of your home being damaged by water or fire? No, we cannot. However, what we can do is be with you every step of the way. When that initial loss happens, it can feel like you are going through a wave of emotions. For some of us, we’ve experienced those emotions because no one is exempt from a disaster happening, so we’ll be able to relate first hand with you. So when we say "Like it never even happened," what we mean is that we will be there from start to finish. From the initial clean up, dry out, debris removal steps to the very end when the last bit of construction is completed. "Like it never even happened."
Why we wear full Personal Protective Equipment
5/21/2021 (Permalink)

PPE is also used in crawlspaces, attics, or around a hazardous environment with dust, fumes, smoke or some that pose a biological or chemical threat if exposed and viruses.
Safety of our customers is as important as the safety of our technicians, and they adhere to the highest standards on keeping our customers safe at all times.
SERVPRO Can Help with Any Mold Issue
5/18/2021 (Permalink)
Mold can be found in corners of every room behind kitchen appliances its very common due to moistures and heat.
Where Can Mold Grow?
After a flood or any kind of water damage, immediate water extraction is critical for preventing mold, but it may not be enough to prevent a mold problem. Although it is not always possible to detect mold with the naked eye, visible mold is usually an indication that mold exists in the following areas:
- Behind drywall
- Under floorboards
- Behind ceiling tile
- In the air
If the building or home you are considering purchasing has experienced a flood, the chance of mold existing in these areas is very high.
How Can an Inspection Help?
If you have a sound rationale for purchasing a building based upon location, price, and future profits, investing in a mold inspection might make sense. If mold exists, you may find that a mold remediation specialist can contain it to make your intended use for the property feasible and eliminate future problems. On the other hand, if the inspection substantially raises the amount you are willing to invest in the property, you might choose to forfeit its purchase.
How To Prevent Future Mold Growth?
Every commercial property has some degree of mold, and it is impossible to eliminate it; however, this doesn't mean that a building you purchase will always have a mold problem. You can take measures to reduce the humidity levels including, running dehumidifiers, avoiding and repairing leaky pipes, promptly repairing roof damage and cleaning HVAC coils and drip pans. It is also helpful to schedule periodic property walk-throughs to help detect potential problems before they become large issues that are costly to resolve.
When a mold inspection reveals mold in a building you are planning to purchase in Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights area, managing it through minor repairs or costly reconstruction can affect your purchase decision.

One of our technicians in full PPE's ready to work on a Mold Remediation job, caused by a long term water damage leak.
Safety always comes first at SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights. A job can only be done correctly if you are prepared for it correctly. Our safety is a priority, as well as keeping our customer safe.
Having the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) is important and always the 1st step at every job. Working in the Restoration Industry has a very high potential risk for injury, it's very important to be prepared at all times and protect yourselves in every way possible.
Our technician is wearing full PPE's on for this mold loss at a Laboratory. When mold is present when cutting into the drywall, the spores can travel and be inhaled. Inhaling mold/dust is not safe, our employees are required to wear masks & protective eye wear when working with mold. When mold is not present, a mask is still important to wear as well as googles, to keep from inhaling debris that can cause irritation to eyes, nose, throat.
We care about our employees and customers health. We always make sure all of our employees have the proper PPE on for each and every job.

SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights was extremely busy a year ago. When the pandemic began, non-essential employees stayed home 24/7, as well as kids out of school. Everyone's life changed. SERVPRO was considered an essential employee and we were lucky to continue to work, and assist families and those essential businesses to stay open during water, fire and mold events. SERVPRO introduced our new Certified: SERVPRO Cleaned program and we were constantly assisting essential businesses, medical offices and warehouses on disinfecting their space with COVID-19 spreading and affecting many people. We were always there to help out. Our technicians worked so hard, we couldn't have a better team. We are still keeping busy with local residential locations and local businesses in the area, we noticed a hike in calls due to more people being home with water and fire jobs.

Unexpected home damage is always a shock for homeowners. It can be difficult to determine what to do next or how to react in the moment.
That is why, we always recommend that homeowners plan ahead for these types of situations, so if the damage occurs, they’ll know immediately who to call. But how do you know you’re choosing the right restoration company?
There is a lot of information surrounding the restoration industry, so it is important to narrow it down by determining what is actually important. Here are some key points to consider when making your choice:
Their Areas of Expertise
It is not uncommon for home damages to require more than one aspect of restoration. For example, cleaning up fire damage involves ridding the air of toxic particles and water damage often involves restoring structures. SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights is certified and experienced in all aspects of damage, making us the forefront leader in making sure all of your needs are met and exceeded, from start to finish.
Their Night and Weekend Availability

Their Level of Training
It is important for a company to invest in the training of their technicians to guarantee they will be prepared for any damage situation that arises. The restoration industry has high standards for training, which is what we use as our guideline for all educational materials.
Their Ability to Scale
Because we are a local franchise with a massive network of 1700 other locations in North America alone, SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights can scale as needed for larger disasters. Dirty Ducs? Call SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights
5/18/2020 (Permalink)
HVAC
Boost the efficiency of your HVAC and keep your indoor air quality at its best by having your HVAC and ducts cleaned.
Dirty ducts can circulate odors, contaminants such as mold, and irritating dust throughout a building or home.
Keeping the HVAC system and ductwork clean can potentially extend the life span of the equipment by allowing it to operate at peak condition, which may even save money. Duct cleaning may not always be necessary.. Calling a professional to inspect your system and ductwork to make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns is a good idea. Regular inspections can save money and provide peace of mind on the health of your HVAC system and ductwork.
In some circumstances, such as after fire, smoke or suspected mold growth, duct cleaning becomes an essential part of the cleanup process.
The professionals at SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights & Rowland Heights use a portable ventilation and air duct cleaning system to examine ductwork and make a clean sweep, removing dust and grime. The process is as follows;
- The process begins using patented equipment including a roto-scraper, which automatically adapts to the duct's shape and diameter while traveling through the duct, removing debris and filth before vacuuming begins.
- Next, a powerful push-pull air delivery and collection system transfers the debris from the ductwork to a 16-gallon container.
- Air is filtered through a HEPA filtration system, removing 99.97% of the particles in the air stream. HEPA filters capture debris and keep the indoor environment clean.
- As an optional process, a sealant or coating product may be sprayed to address odor or microbial concerns.
- Filters will be either cleaned or replaced to remove odor and dirt.

Mold in your Business?
5/14/2020 (Permalink)
Mold
If your commercial building has experienced any water damage from a burst pipe, storm, or other cause, you might be wondering how long you have until you need to worry about mold starting to grow. You might be surprised at just how quickly mold growth can occur in the right conditions, which is why it so important to call for help from a water restoration company as soon as excess water is discovered. Here is some information on what causes mold to grow and how long it takes for it to begin growing.
Common Causes of Mold Growth
The main thing mold needs to grow is a continued source of moisture. Whether due to high humidity levels or standing water in your building, wet areas can eventually lead to mold growth. Common ways moisture enters buildings and causes mold to grow includes:
- Roof leaks and improper ventilation
- Excess humidity or moisture in bathrooms
- Water damage from faucet leaks or pipe bursts
- Flooding from rain or outdoor water sources
- Sitting puddles and spills
- Improper cleaning of wood and laminate flooring
How Long for Mold to Grow
Given enough moisture to live on, mold can grow as quickly as 24 to 48 hours. This means that if a pipe does burst in your building or a storm causes flooding, you need to start thinking about mold prevention right away. SERVPRO's trucks are loaded with equipment to help restore your home!
Detection Equipment:
-Scoping involves locating the areas of the structure affected by water and defining the extent to which the structure and contents have absorbed moisture. Moisture detection devices are also used to verify that an environment has been dried.
- Moisture sensors- are used to detect moisture in carpets, baseboards and walls.
- Moisture meters- are used to determine the actual moisture content of various materials. the moisture tester provides accurate moisture readings that enable the SERVPRO franchise professional to monitor the drying process.
- Thermohygrometers- measure both temperature and relative humidity. Capturing these two readings, a SERVPRO Franchise professional using a Psychometric chart can calculate specific humidity, dew point and vapor pressure.
Extraction Equipment:
- the most effective method of removing moisture from a structure is extraction. this is why it is critical to respond quickly, the environment can usually be dried much faster.
- Extractors- are used in cleaning carpets and upholstery and in removing water from floors following a water damage. Extractors can either be truck-mounted or portable, allowing for greater access inside structures.
SERVPRO has the proper equipment to handle any damage/disaster; making it one of the leading restoration companies in the industry.
Duct Cleaning

A SERVPRO technician explains to a home owner how to take care of her vents.
Boost the efficiency of your HVAC and keep your indoor air quality at its best by having your HVAC and ducts cleaned.
Dirty ducts can circulate odors, contaminants such as mold, and irritating dust throughout a building or home.
Keeping the HVAC system and duct work clean can potentially extend the life span of the equipment by allowing it to operate at peak condition, which may even save money. Duct cleaning may not always be necessary.. calling a professional to inspect your system and duct work to make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns is a good idea. Regular inspections can save money and provide peace of mind on the health of your HVAC system and duct work.
In some circumstances, such as after fire, smoke or suspected mold growth, duct cleaning becomes an essential part of the cleanup process.
The professionals at SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights/Rowland Heights use a portable ventilation and air duct cleaning system to examine duct work and make a clean sweep, removing dust and grime. The process is as follows;

The Importance Of Smoke Alarms
5/2/2019 (Permalink)
SERVPRO says to regularly test your smoke alarms.
Lets be real... no one likes that irritating, loud, beeping noise that the smoke alarm creates when the battery is needed to be changed. However, smoke alarms can save lives! It's extremely important to regularly check them and change out the battery when needed.
CPSC says this on smoke alarms:
"When smoke particles enter the ionization chamber, the smoke particles disrupt the current flow, which triggers the alarm."
Every year in the US, about 2 thousand people lose their lives in residential fires. Smoke and deadly gases will spread faster than heat. Smoke detectors will detect these gases and smoke an alert you of a fire coming your way or already in your home! Even inhaling these toxic gases can be fatal.
SERVPRO is here to help! Let us help you explain more ob fire safety and help you repair your home from a fire! We do it best.
