Are your carpets affected from Water or Flood Damage?
4/20/2017 (Permalink)
When a home has water damage, possibly from a domestic break or leak, time is of great urgency. If a restoration team can quickly respond to the emergency , that would give a greater chance of saving furnishings and possessions. it is especially true that carpets are quite vulnerable to moisture and will degrade quickly. At SERVPRO we have excellent experience with restoring damage in Walnut/ Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights. While most damaged items are easier to remove and replace, carpeting can be expensive. Often, this is not financially viable for a homeowner to replace all of the Water or Flood damaged carpets in the property, it is our job to dry and clean them. Below is some additional information on the Restoration of Water damaged carpets and sub-flooring.
- Identifying the type of water damage
One question would be 'What kind of water seeped into the carpet?' there is a trio of categories. A Category One, comprise of clean water from a non-contaminated source. An example is a clean pipe burst from a clean source that would usually be where you get your drinking water from. A Category Two, is water which is likely to consist of chemicals, toxins, or bacteria. This strain of liquid is harder to remove from carpets only because it has the potential to leave behind horrid substances. Considering that it is possible to extract Category One water and consider the carpet restored, for more contaminated fabrics require further cleaning. A Category Three, is Sewage or water from an industrial source, usually is way too contaminated for safe restoration. Removal and disposal are the only viable options.
2. How we clean Damaged Carpets
The SERVPRO technicians use hot water extractors to clean contaminated fabrics and sub-flooring. This heat creates steam, which raises the temperature of the carpet fibers and destroys many of the germs. Biocides and detergents are also helpful in cases that contamination is moderate to heavy. Though in most serious cases, technicians are having to make an urgent judgment call if the carpet is safe to keep or is to contaminated and needs t be disposed of.
In situations like these is why SERVPRO of Walnut/ Hacienda Heights and Rowland Heights is one call away (909) 598-8400.

Duct Cleaning Inspection
Boost the efficiency of your HVAC and keep your indoor air quality at its best by having your HVAC and ducts cleaned.
Dirty ducts can circulate odors, contaminants such as mold, and irritating dust throughout a building or home.
Keeping the HVAC system and ductwork clean can potentially extend the life span of the equipment by allowing it to operate at peak condition, which may even save money. Duct cleaning may not always be necessary.. calling a professional to inspect your system and ductwork to make recommendations about the best way to address any indoor air quality concerns is a good idea. Regular inspections can save money and provide peace of mind on the health of your HVAC system and ductwork.
In some circumstances, such as after fire, smoke or suspected mold growth, duct cleaning becomes an essential part of the cleanup process.
The professionals at SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights & Rowland Heights use a portable ventilation and air duct cleaning system to examine ductwork and make a clean sweep, removing dust and grime. The process is as follows;
The process begins using patented equipment including a roto-scraper, which automatically adapts to the duct's shape and diameter while traveling through the duct, removing debris and filth before vacuuming begins. Next, a powerful push-pull air delivery and collection system transfers the debris from the ductwork to a 16-gallon container. Air is filtered through a HEPA filtration system, removing 99.97% of the particles in the air stream. HEPA filters capture debris and keep the indoor environment clean. As an optional process, a sealant or coating product may be sprayed to address odor or microbial concerns. Filters will be either cleaned or replaced to remove odor and dirt. Contact SERVPRO of Hacienda Heights & Rowland Heights to schedule your next duct cleaning!
